80s Panelled Leather Blouson – Calfskin

Full-grain leather from 6–8-month-old calves, 1.1–1.2mm thick. Young calfskin has a tight, fine grain with small even pores and none of the deep creases and marks of adult hide. It's thin but substantial, as soft as lambskin while still holding its shape. Supply is limited, so it costs more than standard cowhide.

The hide is washed, degreased and softened, which takes away the stiff new-leather feel and leaves a matte, slightly hazy vintage surface. With body heat and everyday wear it builds a warm patina and natural creases.

The shape comes from the oversized leather jackets of the 1980s: big shoulders, loose lines and an attitude that broke with the slim biker jacket. This version adds curved panelling across the front and back.

Care: Keep out of prolonged sun and away from corrosive substances. Wipe with a soft dry cloth; use a leather cleaner for stubborn marks and a leather conditioner to keep it supple. Real calfskin shows natural marks (healed scratches, veins, slight grain and tone variation) and a washed, softened hide may show light wear at edges; these are part of the material, not faults. Hand-measured; allow ±2cm.
