Not the rugged American kind of workwear. This is the classic French chore coat, cut from a 19th-century worker's pattern: clean, restrained and easy to wear.

We use a dense 360g cotton corduroy with full, fine wales, then give the finished jacket a heavy enzyme stone wash. That takes away the stiffness and plastic sheen of new cloth and leaves a soft, matte, slightly faded surface that keeps its body and ages with wear.

The cut is a relaxed straight French workwear shape with a natural dropped shoulder. Roomy, never oversized or bulky.
